La Carta Esferica (the Nautical Chart )
Things moved along for these last thirty or so pages at a satisfying pace, with substantial suspense, and concluded with an ending that I really appreciated. Their aim of finding “Dei Gloria” wasn’t clear at all either.
Love, ambition, treason and death clash in a neverending search for a city built with gold. As in the novel, this is an inside joke referring to the real Felix Von Luckner, a German count and privateer from World War 1. I only have one word to describe how my younger self felt while reading it b DNF I asked for the book as a present from my parents when it came out back in so that I could take it with me on my vacation.

Soon she has aligned Coy to her cause, to help her find a sunken ship, the Dei Gloria, one that sank over years ago. The thing that struck me most about this book is the pacing. Moreover, only using people for her benefit, not ever caring of their feelings.
This is despite the less than ideal treatment he receives from her, which in a word, is bitchy. I can understand why many regular readers of Perez-Reverte did not enjoy this novel as much as some of his others. He does his research. His writing transports the reader into another time and place, accompanied by a mysteriously intriguing aura that his words produce; an apprehensive, curious, but always with a tinge of the medieval.
Then, he jumped to news reporter for TVE, Spanish national channel. Yes No Report esverica. While restoring an old painting showing a woman and two men playing chess, Julia discovers the text “Who killed the knight” underneath revertte paint.
His prose is still interesting. Anyway, its is compensated with the great performances from main castand fine support castinterpreters who provided a considerable boost to the result.
Although much of the writing and story conclusion compensated for other less stellar aspects, readers would be better served trying another of his works.

In the beginning i must say i am in LOVE with Reverte’s books for their suspense and mystery, their thrilling plots that make turn pages insanely, their brilliantly described characters and numerous historical facts i learn from what I read.

If you’re looking for rip-roaring, pulse-pounding action, this isn’t for you although there’s some of that in itbut I found it entirely engrossing nonetheless — it was a wrench to put it down each time I had to.
You know before you open it that somebody’s probably going to betray someone because that’s usually how it goes with those folk.
A man without a ship, without prospects, without luck. This fits perfectly with the themes of betrayal and double cross the movie is about.
