This is how we should live our own lives, with our focus on the Master, on the one who sits upon the throne and guarantees our success if we just trust in Him. In the end I gave up on finishing it. In the beginning of the book, Lucado vividly paints a portrait of tiny David and how he stood firm against a nine-foot giant, against all odds, in the midst of others’ doubt, and dropped the behemoth with one stone hurled from a sling, the simplest of weapons.
Why make just a single reference to God as the only one having the answers and the power to allow you to conquer your giants?
This is the kind of book you keep on your shelf and pull out again and again when life is giving you a hard time. As usual, Lucado chooses an important theme for Christians to follow. As God moved greatly in me, I began to see what I understood about David was a bit off. The same God who helped him will help you. Mar 29, elfsi rated it it was amazing Shelves: Max Lucado is such a great author – he makes scripture come alive and brings it to life today – This book is about King David – when he was obediant to God and victorious and when he failed miserably because he got a litle to racing in himself without God -just like we all do As someone who frequently battles with the giants of anxiety, frustration, and recently, grief, this was just the book I needed at the time I needed it.
He does the same with King Saul: He is searching for lucqdo. Lucado himself has marveled that God works in amazing ways, as we learn in this book by studying the tumultuous but God-seeking life of David.

Once again, Christian living master Max Lucado impresses with a study of the life of David, failure and success, a Biblical figure whom God himself proclaimed “a man after his own heart” Samuel Max Lucado draws out insights and similes to our own facint that are truly amazing. Seems that the giants I face daily can be conquered.
Normally I thoroughly enjoy Max Lucado and his style of writing, however this book was hard to get into and even harder to stay into because of how basic and surface level the writing was. I read this book when I was going through a rough time in my life, and I have to say it really helped me through it. Incredible analysis of the stages of David’s life and the major take aways from his experiences.

She swam through foggy weather and choppy seas for 15 hours!! David was not perfect, and Lucado points out how God uses this flawed person anyway. An excellent look at the story of King David, and what it means to us today.

That our Giants aren’t always people. Good for anyone interested in facing “Giants” in youur life – there are more of them than you may think – and also a good tool for more in depth study of the Bible. The Psalms were often to written gkants of fun, glorious, happy times, but out of despair, heartache, gut wrenching times where David chose to praise God instead of complain, have self-pity.
